A Word A Week Challenge: Yellow

This week’s theme over at A word in your ear is YELLOW.

You can’t see for the yellow garlands that have been adorned on this statue at a Hindu-Buddhist- temple in Hat Yai, Thailand.

In Thailand yellow is considered not only the colour of Buddhism but also the colour of royalty.  People wear yellow shirts to show adoration for the King, fly yellow flags to show support for the royal family and lay garlands of yellow flowers at auspicious Buddhist ceremonies.

Yellow is such a bright colour evoking energetic, happy feelings – of course it is synonymous with the Kingdom of Thailand.
